FALCONS BEAT RIVER RATS 3-1

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons beat the Albany River Rats 3-1 on Saturday night at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.  Springfield goaltender Dany Sabourin was solid in goal stopping 38 of 39 shots including several key stops in the third  period.

The Falcons took control of Saturday's game early in the first period quickly building a 2-0 lead.  Shane Willis opened the scoring at 8:02 of the first period, followed by Ryan Stone giving the Falcons a two-goal cushion at 9:35 of the opening frame.

After a scoreless second period, Springfield center Ryan Potulny added his team-leading 32nd marker of the year in the third period.

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that they have recalled forward Kelly Czuy from the ECHL’s Las Vegas Wranglers and they have also signed forward Jeffrey Lee to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO).

Czuy has spent some time with Springfield this year appearing in one game and not registering a point.  In 37 games with Las Vegas this year, the Edmonton, Alberta native has nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points and 44 penalty minutes. 

Lee recently finished his junior season with the Western Hockey League’s Edmonton Oil Kings where he collected 22 goals and 40 assists for 62 points in 72 games.  The Calgary, Alberta native led the Oil Kings in assists and was tied for the club lead in points.  He also served as a co-captain for Edmonton this year.
