FALCONS BLANKED IN MANCHESTER 3-0
April 3, 2009 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Manchester Monarchs 3-0 on Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. The Falcons will next play at Lowell on Saturday.
The Falcons had some opportunities early in the game as they went on the power play three times in the opening frame, but it was Trevor Lewis who opened the scoring for Manchester with a power play goal at 11:08 of the first period.
In the second period, it was all Manchester as Matt Moulson gave the Monarchs a 2-0 advantage with a shorthanded goal at 10:14, followed by Kevin Westgarth's fourth marker of the year at 14:45 giving Manchester a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes.
Manchester goaltender Jonathan Bernier recorded the shutout, his fifth of the season.
Jeff Lee made his AHL/pro debut.
Charles Linglet returned to the lineup after missing a week due to injury.
