FALCONS SIGN GARET HUNT TO AHL CONTRACT
Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that they have signed left wing Garet Hunt to a standard American Hockey League contract. Hunt has spent the previous four seasons playing with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. The 5-foot-8, 190-pound native of Maple Ridge, British Columbia played in 62 games with the Giants last year totaling seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points and 239 penalty minutes.
“The Edmonton Oilers are committed to making sure we have some grit in our lineup for the 2008-09 season,” said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. “From all indications, Garet Hunt will be the type of player who plays an aggressive style and he will compete for a spot in Springfield this season.”
In 193 career games with the Giants, Hunt totaled 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points and 542 penalty minutes. He posted career highs in games played (62), goals (7), assists (11) points (18) and penalty minutes (239) during the 2007-08 campaign.
