SESTITO DEALT TO NEW JERSEY DEVILS

SESTITO DEALT TO DEVILS

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have acquired a conditional draft choice from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Tim Sestito.

OILERS AND THUNDER CONTINUE AFFILIATION

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to renew their minor league affiliation with the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder for the 2009-10 season.

Stockton, the Oilers’ ECHL affiliate since 2005-06, have advanced to the Kelly Cup playoffs in each of the last three seasons.  Last season, the Thunder advanced to the second round of the playoffs, marking the first time in club history the team advanced past the first round.

Oilers Assistant General Manager Kevin Prendergast says, "We are pleased to once again extend our affiliation agreement with Stockton.  The Thunder organization has provided our players with a positive environment, enabling them to develop as professionals. We are looking forward to another successful season in Stockton."

During the 2006-07 season, the Thunder posted a 36-point improvement in the standings, leading to their first post-season berth in franchise history.
