FALCONS HELP RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, took part in the 2009 East Longmeadow Men’s Charity Softball All-Star Game on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Mapleshade Field in East Longmeadow, MA. The event helped raise money for Springfield Falcons Charities. Assistant coach Gerry Fleming and head athletic trainer Brandon Dionne each were honorary captains with Dionne's team earning the 21-15 victory.
Along with Fleming and Dionne in attendance, Falcons radio play-by-play broadcaster Mike Kelly served as the public address announcer, while team mascot "Screech" threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
"It was a fun event and we want to thank the East Longmeadow softball league for the invite to participate," said Fleming. "It always enjoyable to get out in the community, I have had the good fortune to participate in a few events this summer and enjoy the off-season with so many individuals who support Falcons hockey."
This was the second straight year in which the Falcons helped raise money at this special charity event. The Falcons continue to prepare for a new season as the entire 2009-10 Falcons regular season schedule is expected to be announced the week of August 10-14.
