FALCONS HOST THEIR ANNUAL SUMMER BBQ
August 20, 2009 - The Springfield Falcons held their 3rd annual Summer BBQ on Wednesday, August 19 at the West Springfield Elks for their season ticket holders and corporate partners and once again, the event was a huge success.
Roughly 475 individuals attended the gathering with free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and watermelon on the menu throughout the evening. Falcons staff helped prepare and serve the food, as well as assistant coach Gerry Fleming helping out behind the grill. Both Fleming and president and general manager Bruce Landon took a few minutes to speak with the fans in attendance and host a question and answer segment.
"This is really a nice event for us as an organization to say thank you to all of your loyal supporters," said Landon. "These are special people who have supported Falcons hockey year in and year out, and we look forward to their continued support."
As the 2009-10 season inches closer, many of the fans in attendance had questions regarding the Falcons potential roster, as well as possible expectations for the upcoming season.
"It was a great event to be a part of, it was my first Falcons BBQ and you can tell the people in Springfield are prepared for an exciting season," said Fleming, who hosted a Q&A segment. "I know as a coaching staff, we are just as excited as everyone to get started this year."
Along with the free food, the Falcons hosted a water balloon toss and kick ball game with the youngsters in the crowd, while karaoke was also available during the night. When the evening was concluded, just about everyone went home satisfied.
The Falcons would like to thank Castle of Knights, DJ Joe Rossi, the West Springfield Elks, and Mansfield Paper for their support of the event and without their support, this special night wouldn't have been possible.
