FALCONS COLLECT OVERTIME WIN AT WORCESTER

  • Head Coach Rob Daum Recaps The Win

January 13, 2010 - In a game that featured several momentum swings back and forth in the third period, the Springfield Falcons found a way to get the victory beating the Worcester Sharks 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday night at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA.  Taylor Chorney netted the game-winner in the extra session and the Falcons have now earned three of a possible four points in their last two games.

LIVE BOX SCORE

The Falcons were led offensively by Rob Hisey's two goals, while goaltender J.P. Levasseur was very steady in goal stopping 34 of 37 shots in earning his first win in a Falcons uniform.  Charles Linglet finished the night with three assists, while Liam Reddox and Chorney both ended up with one goal and one assist on the night.

The Falcons rallied twice from one-goal deficits in the third period to earn their 12th win of the season.  Deadlocked at 1-1 heading into the final period, Worcester's Andrew Desjardins gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead at 6:04 of the third period.  Hisey scored his first goal of the period at 8:05 tying the score at 2-2, but the Sharks regained a lead at 3-2 when T.J. Trevelyan converted at 9:14 of the final frame.  Hisey scored his second marker of the night at 15:36 of the third period on the power play extending the game into overtime.

The night started out well for the Falcons as Reddox opened the scoring with a power play goal at 15:42 of the opening session.  Falcons forward Kip Brennan and the Sharks Frazer McLaren dropped the gloves late in the first period with Brennan scoring the knockdown.  In the second period, Worcester tied the score at 1-1 when Mike Moore scored on the power play at 5:43.
