SCREECH VISITS SPORTS DAY AT SIX FLAGS

>>SPORTS DAY AT SIX FLAGS PHOTO GALLERY

August 16, 2010 - During the weekend of August 14-15, the Springfield Falcons took part in the very first "Sports Spectacular Day" at Six Flags New England.  The event was a celebration of all of New England's great sports teams and included the Falcons, Worcester Sharks, Hartford Wolf Pack, Boston Bruins, Springfield Armor, Connecticut Sun, UMass Basketball, New Britian Rock Cats and Boston Red Sox.

"This is an event we plan on doing every year," said Six Flags Marketing and Promotions Assistant Cory Anderson.  "The goal was to showcase all of the great teams New England has to offer and overall, I think we did that with this event."

During the afternoon, each team represented was allowed to set up a display promoting their team and schedule information for the 2010-11 season.  Throughout the five-hour celebration, mascots from the various teams walked aroud the park and entertained fans.  Former UConn and WNBA star Kara Wolters was the guest host of the very special pie eating competition that was held as part of the day, in which Screech was a celebrity judge.

"It tooked like everyone had a fun time, teams were able to get in front of a huge crowd at the park and this is something we are excited about moving forward," said Anderson.  "We want to thank all of the teams for participating and especially Screech, who was out in the crowd for hours taking pictures and signing autograpgs."

The Falcons continue to inch closer to the opening of their 2010-11 season, which opens at home on Saturday, October 9.  The entire 2010-11 AHL schedule is due to be released the week of August 23-27.
