5,698 PACK THE NEST ON SUNDAY
March 13, 2011 - The Springfield Falcons hosted their annual team poster night on Sunday afternoon when they took on the Adirondack Phantoms in front of 5,698 at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons handed out 5,000 team posters and hosted a full team autograph session after the game to allow season ticket holders a chance to meet their favorite player.
The Falcons had 6,400 fans at their game on March 5, followed by 4,400 on Friday and more than 5,600 on Sunday giving the Falcons an average of 5,400 fans over the last three home games. Sunday was once again another great example of family entertainment at a Falcons home game. The Falcons hosted more than 30 schools at Sunday's game, and along with the team autograph session for season ticket holders, there was a free post-game skate for fans to attend. A pair of youth hockey teams played before the Falcons, and overall there were more than 2,500 kids attending Sunday's contest.
"This was a great afternoon, I was able to meet all of the Falcons players and see a good game as well," said season ticket holder Mark Sanchek. "It's nice to get a chance to get the team poster and be able to talk with the guys you watch all year."
The post-game skate after Sunday home games has become a nice tradition for the team. Individuals can bring their skates and get a chance to skate on the same ice as pro hockey players.
"I have attended multiple post-game skates and it's always fun to get a chance to see what the view is down low," said Manny Markes. "Today was fun because we had a chance to meet our favorite players as well, we have attended just about every game this year and we are looking forward to remaining ticket package holders."
On Sunday, the Falcons ended up falling short to the Adirondack Phantoms 3-0, but at the end of the day, almost 6,000 fans went home with a smile on their faces.
The Falcons get back into action on Wednesday night when they head to Manchester before returning home on Friday, March 18 when they host the Hershey Bears. With only six home games remaining in the regular season, make sure you don't miss out on some Falcons fun at The Nest.
