FALCONS LEAD TORNADO RELIEF EFFORTS

June 4, 2011 - The staff of the Springfield Falcons Hockey Team hit the streets of Springfield on Saturday, June 4 from 10 am to 3 pm to execute some grass roots relief efforts. The Falcons staff used the front of their offices on Falcons Way as a tornado relief drop off center where individuals could drop off donations to benefit those families who were affected by the tornado that hit Western MA on June 1.
The Falcons staff spent all morning and afternoon interacting with individuals on a one-on-one basis, people who were kind enough to make a donation and assist local families in need. Hundreds of individuals stopped by to make a donation that included cash, clothing, food, water and blankets. Over $1,000 cash was collected that will be donated to the Pioneer Valley chapter of the Red Cross, while all other items collected will be donated directly to families that were affected by the storms and currently in need of all items. At the end of the day, the local community helped the Falcons fill their locker room with clothing, blankets, shoes, food, water, soap, shampoo, and a variety of other items.

All individuals who made a donation received a voucher good for a free ticket to any Sunday game during the 2011-12 Falcons' season. The Falcons Office will also continue to be a tornado relief drop off spot during their normal working hours of Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm for anyone wanting to make a donation next week.
A special thank you from the Falcons to all indivuals who helped make this a very special day.
