FALCONS FALL TO WOLF PACK 4-3
February 13, 2008 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Hartford Wolf Pack 4-3 on Wednesday night at the XL Center in Hartford. In the second period, Hartford took a 1-0 lead when Dane Byers scored on the power play at 10:12, followed by Lauri Korpikoski giving the Wolf Pack a two-goal lead at 14:43 of the middle session.The Falcons cut their deficit to 2-1 at 8:38 of the third period when Colin McDonald scored his 10th marker of the year, but Hartford responded with goals from Hugh Jessiman at 9:10 of the third period, followed by Artem Anisimov at 10:59 of the final period giving the Wolf Pack a 4-1 lead.
The Falcons closed the gap to 4-3 with a pair of goals from Marc Pouliot just over two minutes apart late in the third period, but they couldn't find the equalizer.
GAME NOTES
The Falcons are 0-3-0-1 in four meetings at the XL Center. The Falcons have won three of their last four games and have earned a point in six of their last eight games, while Hartford has earned at least a point in 10 straight contests.
The news when the Falcons got on the team bus was defenseman Mathieu Roy was recalled by the Edmonton Oilers. Roy will join the Oilers in San Jose. With Roy's departure, Mike Gabinet was in the lineup Wednesday night making his Springfield debut.
