GAME PREVIEW – The Springfield Falcons and Albany Devils meet for the fourth time this season when they drop the puck at the MassMutual Center Saturday night starting at 7 pm.  The Falcons are 2-1-0-0 against the Devils this year with Springfield beating Albany in the last head-to-head matchup back on December 17 by a score of 2-1 in the shootout.  It was a marathon 11 round shootout that evening with the Falcons coming out on top.

The Falcons look to get back on the winning track tonight after dropping a 5-3 decision Friday night in Portland against the Pirates.  Springfield currently has a record of 18-18-1-2 as they play game number 40 tonight.  The Falcons remain in the hunt in the very competitive Northeast Division as they sit three points behind Albany and Bridgeport, five points behind Adirondack and six points in back of Connecticut.

The Devils also look to snap a two-game losing streak tonight.  Albany dropped a 3-2 decision Friday night at Adirondack.  Albany has a record of 17-15-5-3 on the season.

TRANSACTION UPDATE - The Falcons have had a busy stretch of transactions over the last three days heading into tonight’s action.

The Falcons added blueliners Brett Motherwell and Greg Amadio on Thursday.  Amadio was acquired in a trade with the Grand Rapids Griffins in exchange for Mike Thomas.  Motherwell was signed to a PTO after playing for the Falcons' ECHL affiliate, the Chicago Express.  Both players made their Falcons debut on Friday night in Portland.

Also announced Thursday was the Columbus Blue Jackets signing of Brett Lebda, who had been with the Falcons since early November.  Lebda joined the Blue Jackets on Thursday night.

On Friday, it was announced that both Dane Byers and David Savard were assigned back to the Falcons by the Columbus Blue Jackets.  Steven Delisle was assigned back to the Falcons’ ECHL affiliate, the Chicago Express.
