FALCONS TAKE PART IN CELEBRITY SCOOPERS

February 9, 2012 - The Springfield Falcons were back out in the community this week as they took part in a pair of events on Wednesday, February 8 and continued their strong community outreach program this season.
#12 Alexandre Giroux, #14 Ryan Garlock and #27 Cody Goloubef took part in a "Celebrity Scoopers" event hosted by the Easter Seals at the Friendly's Restaurant located at 65 Sumner Avenue in Springfield. The goal of the event was to see who could scoop the most ice cream in 90-seconds and the Falcons are proud to announce that Giroux won the competition with 16 completed dishes of ice cream in the minute and a half cycle.
Following the scooping event, Falcons players, team mascot Screech and the mayor of Springfield, Mr. Dominic Sarno, delivered free ice cream to everyone in attendance completing a special night for the Falcons, Friendly's and Easter Seals.

Earlier in the afternoon, Garlock, #5 Greg Amadio and #24 Andrew Joudrey took part in a reading day at Munger Hill Elementary School in Westfield, MA. Falcons players not only read to third grade students, but they also took some time to answer questions and sign some autographs for the youngsters in attendance.

The Falcons community outreach program continues this weekend as the Falcons host 24 hours of hockey starting at 2 pm on Saturday, February 11 at the home of the Eastern States Coliseum in West Springfield. The Falcons are also hosting a special fundraiser on Sunday, February 12 as part of their home game against the Manchester Monarchs as they partner with Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society to raise funds for this organization with special auction items during the game.
