FALCONS FALL TO BRUINS 5-1
March 18, 2012 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Providence Bruins 5-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI. The Bruins used a stretch of three minutes in the first period in building a 3-0 lead and they never looked back handing the Falcons their first loss of the weekend. The Falcons took 4 of a possible 6 points on the weekend and they will next host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday night at the MassMutual Center.
Nathan McIver, Kirk MacDonald and Trent Whitfield scored for Providence in a span of three minutes late in the first period building momentum for the Bruins and giving the B's a three goal advantage after 20 minutes of play.
Providence continued their scoring just one minute into the second period when Kyle MacKinnon tallied his 12th marker of the year giving the Bruins a 4-0 lead.
The Falcons used the power play to cut into their deficit at 9:51 of the second period when Nick Drazenovic scored for the third straight contest. Providence regained a four-goal cushion when MacDonald scored his second goal of the game at 13:06 of the middle frame.
