GARLOCK EARNS SPECIAL AWARD

RYAN GARLOCK NAMED FALCONS 2011-12 IOA/AMERICAN SPECIALTY AHL MAN OF THE YEAR

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons are proud to announce that Ryan Garlock has been named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Springfield community during the 2011-12 season.

Garlock was a regular contributor to the Springfield Falcons school reading program during the season visiting multiple local schools in the Pioneer Valley.  He also assisted local Youth Hockey teams attending on-ice practices with the kids helping youngsters with the fundamentals of hockey.

Garlock was also instrumental in helping with a special fundraiser on March 7 as the Falcons hosted a "Celebrity Waiters" event raising monies for Springfield Falcons Charities.

Garlock is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL’s 2011-12 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.
