IN JUST A FEW HOURS...

The Springfield Falcons finish off their 2012-2013 opening weekend when they host the Adirondack Phantoms at 3:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons began the season on Saturday evening with a 4-2 victory over the St. John's IceCaps, improving the club's all-time record in its openers to 9-8-3. Tomas Kubalik and Matt Calvert each posted a goal and an assist in the win, while Tim Erixon contributed a pair of helpers. The Phantoms are also 1-0-0-0, having defeated the Portland Pirates, 6-3, in their season opener at home on Saturday.

SPRINGFIELD EXTENDS HOME SUCCESS

Dating back to the end of the 2011-2012 season, the Falcons have won six-straight contests at the MassMutual Center and have taken points in nine of their last 10 outings on home ice. Last season, Springfield went 20-14-1-3 at The Nest. The Falcons also won both of their preseason home games last weekend.

CRAIG PICKS UP WHERE HE LEFT OFF

Springfield captain Ryan Craig scored the Falcons' opening goal of the season on Saturday, tipping in a Tim Erixon shot on the power play in the first period. Craig, who had not worn a Falcons jersey since 2005-2006, recorded his 40th Springfield tally and is now tied for 12th all-time on the Falcons' goal-scoring list.
