FALCONS COME UP SHORT IN WORCESTER
April 6, 2008 - The Springfield Falcons lost to the Worcester Sharks 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the DCU Center in Worcester and coupled with the Manchester Monarchs picking up a point in Providence, the Falcons were eliminated from post-season play.The game started out well for the Falcons as Grant Potulny opened the scoring at 1:42 of the first period when he tallied his 28th marker of the season giving the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
Worcester tied the score at 1-1 with a shorthanded marker at 7:17 of the first period when T.J. Fox scored his 12th goal of the year. The Sharks took their first lead of the night at 14:37 of the opening frame when Brad Staubitz converted on the power play giving Worcester a 2-1 lead through 20 minutes of play.
After a scoreless middle stanza, Springfield pulled even in the third period when Rob Schremp scored on the power play at 6:35 of the final frame tying the score at 2-2. Worcester would regain their one-goal advantage at 9:13 of the final period when Mike Iggulden tallied on the man advantage, followed by Worcester's Graham Mink adding an insurance goal at 15:55 of the third period.
