STUDENT PRINCE PRESENTS THROWBACK THURSDAY: JASON JASPERS

Throwback Thursday presented by Student Prince Cafe and Fort Restaurant: Jason Jaspers
 
Former Falcons center Jason Jaspers has a large presence in the franchise’s all-time record book, ranking in the top five in points (200), goals (86), assists (114), games played (317), power-play goals (27), shorthanded goals (4) and game-winning goals (11). The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is atop the list for most shorthanded goals, tied with Matt Calvert, Jeff Daniels, Norm Miley and Erik Westrum, each with four.
 
 
Jaspers played in Springfield for five seasons, beginning in 2001-02. As a rookie out of the junior Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League, he posted 48 points (25 goals, 23 assists) in 71 games during his rookie campaign.
 
The 5-foot-11, 207-pound centerman’s most productive season came in 2005-06, as he posted career highs with 66 points, 29 goals and 37 assists. After the season, Jaspers transitioned to Germany and the Deutsche Eishockey League’s Manheim Eagles. He is currently still playing in the DEL, now for his third team, the Neurmberg Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers. This is Jaspers’ second season with the Ice Tigers, after three seasons with Manheim and three with the Cologne Sharks.
 
Jaspers played in a total of nine games at the National Hockey League level, all for the Phoenix Coyotes. He totaled one assists, six penalty minutes and a -3 rating.
