The Springfield Falcons announced Monday that defenseman Dalton Prout has been recalled by the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team’s NHL affiliate.
Prout, 23, appeared in 15 games with the Falcons since being loaned to the club January 24, totaling three assists, 11 penalty minutes and a -2 rating. All three of the 6-foot-3, 224-pound defenseman’s assists came in the same game, a 6-5 overtime victory over the Syracuse Crunch February 8. In 102 games with Springfield before this season, Prout notched 22 points (five goals, 17 assists), 127 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.
In 27 games with the Blue Jackets this season, Prout has amassed two assists, 33 penalty minutes and a -6 rating. The LaSalle, Ontario native played in 28 games with Columbus in 2012-13, registering seven points (one goal, six assists), 25 penalty minutes and a team-high +15 rating. In 60 career NHL games, all with Columbus, Prout has recorded nine points (one goal, eight assists), 58 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.
Prout was selected in the sixth round (154th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Blue Jackets.
The Falcons are back in action at the MassMutual Center Saturday, March 1 when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m.
