The Springfield Falcons announced Saturday that the team has signed forward Marko Dano to an American Hockey League standard player contract (SPC).
Dano, 19, was one of three first-round selections made by the Blue Jackets in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Selected 27th overall, the 5-foot-11, 183-pound centerman continued his professional career abroad with the Kontinental Hockey League’s Bratislava Slovan in 2013-14. In 41 games, Dano totaled five points (two goals, three assists) and 41 penalty minutes.
In 2012-13 with the same club, he registered seven points (three goals, four assists), 26 penalty minutes and a +4 rating in 37 games.
Springfield the first North American team Dano – a native of Bratislava, Slovakia – has joined. Dano signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets Friday, March 14. The contract will begin in 2014-15.
Springfield is back at the MassMutual Center Saturday, March 22 to host the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 23 to host the St. John’s IceCaps at 3:00 p.m.
