10/16/2013 7:25 AM -

The Springfield Falcons announced Wednesday that the team has signed Jean-Francois Jacques to a professional tryout agreement. A veteran of the AHL and NHL, Jacques played 46 games with the Falcons over two seasons (2007-08, 2008-09).

The 6-foot-3, 231-pound winger split last season between the Syracuse Crunch and San Antonio Rampage, playing in 24 games for each team. In the 48 games, he totaled 12 points (six goals, six assists) and 61 penalty minutes. While playing for Syracuse in 2011-12, Jacques recorded 40 points (21 goals, 19 assists) and a +3 rating in 65 games.

Arguably his most successful statistical season came in 2005-06 while playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs. Jacques posted 44 points (24 goals, 20 assists) and 131 penalty minutes in 65 games that season.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Jacques has played in 166 games at the NHL level, mostly for the Edmonton Oilers. In his time with Edmonton and briefly with the Anaheim Ducks, he totaled 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) and 197 penalty minutes.

The Falcons continue their current road trip this weekend – Friday, October 18 versus the Providence Bruins and Saturday, October 19 versus the Adirondack Phantoms. The team returns to the MassMutual Center for its next home game Saturday, October 26 to host the Worcester Sharks at 7:00 p.m.
