The Springfield Falcons have announced today that Bob Oliver will participate in his third annual “Ride for Five” on Thursday, June 26th in an effort to raise money for the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Oliver will ride a stationary bike from 7 AM to 3 PM outside the MassMutual Center at the corner of Main Street and Falcons Way near the marquee in preparation for the Pan-Mass Challenge later this summer.
The goal for “Ride for Five” is to raise $5,000 to support cancer research. Those interested in donating can do so at the event on Thursday, June 26th or by visiting Bob Oliver’s fundraising page (http://www2.pmc.org/profile/RO0048) through the Pan-Mass Challenge website.
“I’m extremely proud and excited to participate in my third PMC on the first weekend in August. The Pan-Mass Challenge is a wonderful experience which raises both awareness and funding for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston,” Oliver said. “Unfortunately, we all know of a loved one, a friend, a colleague, a neighbor or just someone you’ve met in passing who has lost a dreaded battle with the disease. There will be over 5,500 cyclists and 3,000 volunteers who will participate in this years’ event. I’m so thankful to everyone who has supported me the past two years and hope that I’ll be able to count on that support once again.”
The 2014 Pan-Mass Challenge, which covers 192 miles will begin on Saturday, August 2nd in Sturbridge, Massachusetts and end on Sunday, August 3rd in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Oliver will be riding with Team STIRLING STRONG.
