In conjunction with the American Hockey League, the Springfield Falcons – AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets – released the schedule for the 2013-14 regular season Thursday. The team will open its 20th anniversary season Saturday, October 5 at home versus the Manchester Monarchs.

The Falcons play the Hartford Wolf Pack 12 times (six games at home, six on the road) throughout the 2013-14 regular season. Of the 12 matchups, seven will be played on a Friday night, four on a Saturday night and one on a Sunday afternoon. The two teams will also face off twice in the preseason – Friday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center in downtown Springfield and Sunday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the International Skating Center of Connecticut in Simsbury.
Springfield will take on the Providence Bruins 10 times (five games at home, five on the road) in 2013-14, while facing off against the division-rival Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Adirondack Phantoms and Albany Devils eight times each. All three series are split four games at home and four on the road.
The Falcons will host a game Tuesday, December 31 at 3:00 p.m. versus the St. John’s Ice Caps – the team’s first home game on New Year’s Eve since 2008. Springfield will also host a game on Valentine’s Day – Friday, February 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. – versus the Wolf Pack and Martin Luther King Day – Monday, January 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. – versus the Phantoms.
The Falcons’ fan-friendly schedule includes 33 of the 38 home games on weekend dates – nine on Fridays, 17 on Saturdays and seven on Sundays.
