The Springfield Falcons (9-3-0-1) defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers by the final score of 3-2 Friday night at the MassMutual Center behind two power-play goals and a perfect penalty kill.
Blake Parlett notched both of the Falcons power-play tallies, scoring the first at 13:36 of the second period to give Springfield a 1-0 lead. The Bracebridge, Ontario native scored his second at 5:09 of the third period on a Springfield 5-on-3 advantage, going top shelf on Bridgeport netminder Anders Nilsson.
Jack Skille scored the other Springfield goal, burying a rebound at 15:18 of the second period to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons killed all seven of the Sound Tigers power plays, improving the team’s season mark to 89.3 percent.
Dallas Jackson and Anders Lee scored third-period goals for Bridgeport.
Springfield goaltender Jeremy Smith made 21 saves on 23 shots faced to improve to 6-1-1 this season. Nilsson stopped 23 of 26 shots in a losing effort for the Sound Tigers.
The Falcons are back in action Saturday, November 16 as they visit the Portland Pirates for the teams’ first meeting of the season. Springfield is back at the MassMutual Center Friday, November 22 to host the Albany Devils at 7:00 p.m.
