Student Prince Cafe and Fort Restaurant present Throwback Thursday: Eric Healey
Eric Healey played for the Springfield Falcons from 1999-2001 and again in 2006-07, totaling 137 points (57 goals, 80 assists) in 178 games. The former left wing ranks seventh in team history in career points, seventh in goals and eighth in assists.
A native of Hull, Massachusetts, Healey played four seasons of collegiate hockey at R.P.I. of the ECAC, recording a total of 168 points (82 goals, 86 assists) in 143 games.
After his spending his first professional season split between the IHL’s Orlando Solar Bears and the AHL’s Saint John Flames, Healey played the next two seasons with the Falcons. In 32 games during the 1999-2000 campaign, the 6-foot, 205-pound forward recorded 29 points (14 goals, 15 assists). He followed it up with 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 66 games.
Healey spent 2001-2006 with six different teams across four different leagues, including a two-game stint with the Boston Bruins in 2005-06, before returning to Springfield in 2006-07 for arguably his most individually productive season. Healey posted a career-high 75 points, led the Falcons in points, goals (27) and assists (48), while ranking seventh in the AHL in helpers.
Healey played one more season in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters in 2007-08, and then finished his professional career with three seasons overseas. He split the 2008-09 campaign between Langnau of the Switzerland National League A and Mora IK of the Sweden 1st Division, before playing one season each for Austria’s Graz EC and Linz EHC.
