Dan Focht played at least one game for the Springfield Falcons in seven different seasons (1996-2003). Over those seven years, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound defenseman appeared in 298 games, ranking third in Falcons history.
Focht made his professional debut with the Falcons, playing one game at the end of the 1996-97 campaign. After wrapping up a major junior career in which he played for the Tri-City Americans and Regina Pats, the Regina native transitioned to the pro game in the Phoenix Coyotes organization. Focht played primarily for the Falcons until his NHL debut with the Coyotes in 2001-02, also playing six games with the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL. He went on to play 82 NHL games between Phoenix and the Pittsburgh Penguins, amassing eight points (two goals, six assists) and 145 penalty minutes.
In his 298 games with Springfield, Focht totaled 641 penalty minutes, ranking third in franchise history behind Rob Murray (1529) and Sean Gagnon (661). He also registered 45 points (eight goals, 37 assists) while dressed in a Springfield uniform.
After his time with Pittsburgh in the NHL (2002-2004), Focht finished his professional career with two more seasons in the AHL – 2004-05 with the Hamilton Bulldogs and 2005-06 with the Rochester Americans.
