Springfield, Mass. – The Springfield Falcons have signed free agents Mike Hoeffel and Hubert Labrie to one-year American Hockey League contracts, Falcons Director of Hockey Operations Bruce Landon announced today.
Hoeffel, 25, spent the 2013-14 season with the Albany Devils, earning 19 points (7g, 12a) in 53 appearances. The North Oaks, MN native has skated in 165 career AHL games with the Devils over the past four seasons, amassing a total of 40 points (19g, 21a). Hoeffel also recorded 87 points (48g, 39a) in 149 appearances during his four-year career with the University of Minnesota and tallied 11 points (6g, 5a) in 11 games with the USNDTP Under-18 team. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound left winger was drafted in the second round, 57th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Labrie, 23, skated in 40 games with the Texas Stars last season, tallying 7 points (2g, 5a) and +11 plus/minus rating. The Victoriaville, PQ native also appeared in four games with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. Labrie is a veteran of 100 AHL and 34 ECHL games, earning 13 points (4g, 9a) and 10 points (3g, 7a), respectively. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound defenseman also spent four seasons with the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, collecting 48 points (10g, 38a) in 192 appearances.
