BLUE JACKETS RE-SIGN FORWARD DANA TYRELL

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed forward Dana Tyrell to a one-year, two way (NHL/AHL) contract for the 2014-15 season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, further terms were not disclosed.
 
Tyrell, 25, suited up for 63 games in the American Hockey League during the 2013-14 campaign, splitting time between the Springfield Falcons and Syracuse Crunch. He also saw action with the Tampa Bay Lightning, appearing in seven contests. In 44 games with the Crunch, Tyrell tallied nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points with 20 penalty minutes. After joining the Falcons, he notched 6-6-12 and was +4 in 19 games. Tyrell added 1-2-3 in five Calder Cup Playoff games for Springfield.
 
Hailing from Airdrie, Alberta, the 5-10, 192-pound left-winger was part of a four-prospect trade between Columbus and Tampa Bay March 5, 2014. Tyrell has recorded 7-17-24 and 119 penalty minutes in 132 career NHL games, all with the Lightning. Tampa Bay selected him in the second round, 47th overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
 
In the AHL, Tyrell has posted 34-58-92 in 181 career games. He began his career with the Norfolk Admirals, before earning time for both Syracuse and Springfield. Alongside the Admirals, Tyrell captured the Calder Cup in 2012.
