After trailing by one, the Falcons pulled even in the second period when Viacheslav Trukhno centered a pass to newly acquired Charles Linglet, who placed a slap shot on the open side of the net for his first Falcons goal at 6:57.
A physical middle period culminated with a roughing penalty as a player on the Worcester bench reached over the boards and shoved Tim Sestito to the ice after Sestito was finishing a check in front of the Sharks' bench.
The Sharks opened scoring early in the first period when Tom Cavanagh converted just 6:21 into the opening frame assisted by Brendan Buckley and Steven Zalewski.
With 5:45 remaining in the opening period, Sestito and Andrew Desjardins settled their differences by dropping the gloves in the Worcester defensive zone. Both players received a five-minute major for the tussle, which resulted after Desjardines connected with a hard hit on Springfield's Colin McDonald.
