FALCONS BUSY IN COMMUNITY THIS WEEKEND

April 17, 2009 – The Springfield Falcons will have a busy weekend in the Pioneer Valley community as they host a pair of events starting on Friday afternoon.
The Springfield Sliders, a junior sled hockey team sponsored by Shriners Hospital for Children and the Falcons, will be participating in the 11th Annual New England Sled Hockey Invitational Tournament at Amelia Park in Westfield. The Sliders, who were visited by several Falcons players throughout the season, will compete on Friday, April 17th at 1:30pm and 6:30pm and Saturday, April 18th at 3:30pm. The Sliders’ game time on Sunday, April 20th will be determined. Admission to the event is FREE. Several events throughout the tournament give fans the opportunity to interact with over 400 disabled athletes. The San Antonio Rampage team, participating in the adult division, is comprised of U.S. Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. For more information, log onto www.ameliapark.org.

On Saturday morning, April 18th, the Springfield Falcons will have a team participating in the March for Babies Walk in Forest Park in Springfield. The team is comprised of staff, fans, booster club members and former Falcon Derek Bekar, his wife, Shanna, and young son, Drake.
