Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons opened their 2011 training camp on Sunday afternoon at the MassMutual Center with Assistant Coaches Brad Larsen and Nolan Pratt leading the squad through a 60-minute workout. Head Coach Rob Riley and General Manager Bruce Landon watched from the stands as the players went through a variety of on-ice drills.
Two players in Falcons training camp have local ties as Holyoke, MA native Adam Pineault skated with the Falcons today, as well as former A.I.C. captain Tom Mele. Both players are in Falcons training camp on a tryout basis and both individuals had some family and friends in the stands on Sunday.
Defensemen Dalton Prout and Steven Delisle were still driving in from Columbus, so both players weren't at the skate. Aaron Bogosian arrived this afternoon and Brent Regner, Oliver Gabriel and Anton Blomqvist also didn't skate on Sunday as they all arrived late on Saturday night.
Sunday's first day of camp started with players receiving physicals in the morning, followed by the on-ice workout, followed by a visit to the weight room. Camp will continue on Monday at 10 am at the MassMutual Center as the team prepares for their preseason opener on Wednesday night at the MassMutual Center.

The Falcons will start camp with seven players who either spent time with Springfield last year or attended Falcons training camp last season. Anton Blomqvist, Wade MacLeod, Aaron Bogosian and Denny Kearney all made their pro debuts last year with Springfield, while Steven Delisle and Dalton Prout attended the 2010 Falcons training camp. Brent Regner played in 56 games for the Falcons during the 2010-11 campaign.
