FALCONS RE-SIGN CLEMENTE, MACLEOD

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets/Springfield Falcons announced on Thursday that they have signed goaltender Mike Clemente and left wing Wade MacLeod to one-year AHL contracts for the 2012-2013 season.

Clemente, a rookie, participated in six games with the Falcons at the end of the 2011-2012 season after completing his four-year career at Brown University (NCAA, D-I). With Springfield, Clemente went 2-1-0-0 with a .930 save percentage, a 1.99 goals-against average, and a shutout. From 2008 to 2012 at Brown, Clemente posted a 32-54-14 record to go along with a .908 save percentage, a 3.03 goals-against average and three shutouts in 107 outings. The 22-year-old set a career high at Brown of 12 wins in his sophomore season of 2009-2010 and secured four-year bests in save percentage (.930) and goals-against average (2.67) in his freshman campaign of 2008-2009.

MacLeod, a second-year pro, played his entire rookie season with the Falcons in 2011-2012, scoring 10 goals and adding 19 assists for 29 points in 66 contests while registering a +6 rating, tying for the club high. He commenced his professional career with Springfield at the end of the 2010-2011 season, notching three points (1g-2a) in nine games. The 25-year-old from Coquitlam, British Columbia played four seasons from 2007 to 2011 at Northeastern University (NCAA, D-I), collecting 137 points (61g-76a) in his collegiate career. MacLeod set career highs in his senior campaign of 2010-2011 with 22 goals, 23 assists, and 45 points, led the Huskies in scoring in each of his final three seasons, and left Northeastern with a school-record 149 games played.

Ticket packages to see the Falcons in the 2012-2013 season start as low as $112 and can be purchased by calling (413) 739-GOAL (4625). Springfield will kick off its home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the MassMutual Center. All Friday, Saturday, and weekday home contests will begin at 7:00 p.m. this season, while Sunday games will start at 3:00 p.m.
